My Self-Compassion Journey
Six years ago I found myself at a week long training in Mindful Self-Compassion on Whidbey Island, Washington and the trajectory of my life changed. The practices resonated deeply and challenged my inner self-critic that had been running the show for too long.
I went on to Batavia, New York six months later to train as a teacher and since that time have continued to practice teach and integrate Mindful Self-Compassion into my personal and professional life. Over the past 18 months I have further deepened by own practice and my own teaching as I was mentored into becoming recognized as a Certified MSC Teacher.
I offer a deep bow of gratitude to my teachers Chris Germer, PhD – Mindful Self-Compassion, Self-Compassion by Kristin Neff, Ph.D., Steve Hickman, Michelle Becker, Kristy Arbon’s HeartWorks, my mentor Dawn MacDonald,
my co-teachers Carol Ranger, Kristy Williams, Zoey Ryan BSc., PCC Life, Leadership & Mentor Coach for Wise Women and to the hundreds of courageous and open hearted program participants.
What’s next? More practice. Because as Pema Chodren says “we can still be crazy after all these years”.
I am looking forward to co-teaching my first 5 Day MSC Intensive in Nanaimo, B.C. with Marcia Burton and Dawn MacDonald from March 22 to March 27th, 2020.
I am also excited to work as a Practicum Trainer with Senior Practicum Trainer David Spound Valley Mindfulness in a new 10 session online practicum program designed to support newly trained MSC teachers from around the world.
Both opportunities will be a stretch and I am sure they will offer me many, many opportunities to practice self-compassion.
